Subfloor for the Tiny House!

Spring brought many excursions for us, including a trip to Florida for Greg to play some shows and a trip to Arizona to visit Carla's parents.  Nonetheless, there has been great progress with the tiny house!

The first order of business was to prep the trailer for the subfloor.

Our little boston-jack russell (Bo-Jack) terrier, Snowy, approved our purchases for the task. :)

With some elbow grease and a lot of sanding, we got the trailer prepped and protected.

Once readied, Greg moved the trailer to the spot he had prepared for building, and leveled the trailer.  We are working on uneven ground, so wheels off!

The next order of business was to cover the work area with a HUGE tarp, so that we can work in the rain as well as in the sun.  For a job like this, we wanted an extra heavy tarp, which we will be able to re-use.  The lighter ones are FAR less durable!!

We are building in a remote location, so we needed a place to store and protect our tools and supplies.    We found this 7x7 Rubbermaid shed that was a breeze to put up! (Greg had to do some ground leveling and build a platform with a little help from some friends). :)

The next step was to begin building the subfloor!  This is a very exciting first step to the actual build of the tiny house.  We chose to go with metal because of its durability and the weight factor, which is something very important to keep in mind when building a tiny house.  You can very easily "run out of truck" for pulling your tiny house.  We've seen instances where folks had to buy a bigger truck (more expensive than their tiny house) to be able to pull their extra tiny house weight!

We are so excited to be making progress with the actual build of the tiny house.  We have put a lot of work into the property itself, as it is completely undeveloped--and we are establishing our homestead off-grid.  It feels so good to be making specific progress now on the tiny house itself!

Here is a glimpse into our basic floor plan.  So tiny!! :)

We have so many loved ones who have come out to experience the property, and to roll up their sleeves to help us.  We feel truly blessed in this endeavor and for the people in our lives!
